This company is an absolute gem! I’ve been doing work in my house for the last few years. And by far, they are the best I’ve dealt with. Their professionalism, honesty and integrity is beyond reproach. Their staff were very considerate of my residence. They completely sealed their work area and kept everything around it clean and shielded as much as possible. Their staff are polite cordial and punctual. So when I needed additional work on a different part of the house I didn’t even think about who to call I knew! And let me tell you, their prices are better than everyone else I got a quote from. And based on the quality of the work, they undercharged me. The only thing, honestly, I wish they would do more than waterproofing. That way I can pay for a job and receive excellent service, no headaches no complaints no surprises! They are not in it to make a quick profit and move on. The first time they did work for me I had my sewage pipe burst at the same time. The company that fixed the pipe did not compact the dirt in the front yard well enough; and so when it rained I basically had a waterfall going into my basement. Lou and his team at A-1 waterproofing are awesome. The company installed French drains years ago. Last year, they replaced my two sump pumps. I recently heard a rattling noise and a member of Lou’s team came out the very next morning and replaced a loose PCV fitting. Highly recommend them.

Day 2, 7/9 same crew, weather/hours; applied tar membrane and insulation boards to blocks and foundation + hand dug 105' L 1' D trench to replace 25 year old 3" PVC/corrugated pipes from 2 leader drains to street.

Lu is an expert in repair and waterproofing and the job was completed on time and on budget. He took the time to explain the issue and the remediation that was necessary. His work team was highly competent and the work was first rate. Lu closely managed the project and he truly cares for his customers and his customer service was nothing short of outstanding. We could not have been happier with Lu, his team, and the final product.
We used A1 Waterproofing several years ago to waterproof our basement, since then we did not have any issues. Recently we had an odd issue where there was a smell and drain flies coming out of our sump pump. Lou from A1 Waterproof came right away, gave us advice on how to investigate and then we worked together to correct the problem. I would not recommend anyone else for all their work. They are meticulous, know their work, genuine and hardworking.

The team was very fast and went above and beyond the original plan to ensure my basement was waterproofed. I had a French drain and new sump pumps installed a in 2022 and happy to say our basement has been safe from any issues. I noticed a slight problem with the pump floats, and they came out immediately and fixed the issue which only needed some slight adjustment to the angle of the pumps. Their work continues to bring peace of mind which is priceless.

Lou Manzo and his crew at American A-1 Waterproofing cleaned up my crawl space put down 10Mil thick plastic on the crawl space floor and installed a new Sump Pump then they laid down stone and poured concrete floor all around the sump pump and area.

Lou, the owner, is the most honest man I have ever met. We thought our basement was flooding and needed french drains. Two other firms insisted that was the solution. Lou came and quickly determined that was not the problem. He suggested we stet up a camera and see what was happening as he thought it was coming from our water softener. That in fact was the case. His honesty, integrity and willingness to help even though there was no job for him at our home is above and beyond. I would strongly recommend working with him and this great company
I could not be happier I found Lou and this business online. I bought a new construction home on existing foundation in Dec 2022 and in Feb 2023 my fully finished basement was full of water. Coincidently, I had Lou coming over next day to help with a separate issue. He saw all the water, gave me a quote for internal French drain and scheduled the work for a few days later. In the meantime, his crew removed all the water and the flooring without charging extra. A water cleanup company had quoted 3k for that. Some will say his quote might have already priced it in. Maybe. But he was still cheaper than 2 of the other 3 quotes I got (without water cleanup).
As for the actual work, extremely hard working and polite crew. Finished the work timely and cleaned up after them. Too early to say if it is holding up but no issues in the past 6 months. I have already referred them to a friend and will continue to do so as and when someone asks me.

Working with Lou from A1 was great. We had a job that required coordination between the town engineering, the sewer dept, the steet dept. and the police for traffic control. A detailed plan and multiple permits were required. Lou took care of all of it.

All this done by a larger crew working in such a tight space using a bucket brigade to move all the gravel and concrete , working on their knees and bellies. Set up an appointment weeks ago and called to confirm today. The lady I spoke to never set up my appointment and I have major work that needs to be done from serious rain we had. Lou from A-1 came out to my house to address a sump pump and discharge drain issue and provided suggestions about the best way to solve the problem. He gave me more than one option and provided the expected outcome of each one. He was professional and responsive to all my concerns. He and his guys showed up at the promised time, once again described the scope of the work, and got to work immediately. Drilling through foundations and digging for drain pipes is dirty and noisy work, as expected. When I saw the finished product, I simply could not believe that anyone had even been at my house. All of his guys were polite and professional and everything was completed in an efficient manner. I highly recommend A-1 should you have a waterproofing concern.
